The Tri-State Mustang Club (TSMC) was founded in June, 1979 by a group of 5 people who shared a common interest and enthusiasm in the ownership, restoration and use of speciality cars and trucks built by the Ford Motor Co. Their general interest was in the products of the 60s and later, primarily Mustangs of the 1965-73 era. The group decided to form a club to share their enthusiasm with others in the Tri-State area, (Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana). They adopted the name of Tri-State Mustang/Fomoco Club as being descriptive of their interest and purpose.

The group increased to 20 members by mid-1980, giving them the nucleus to begin organizing their first car show. In August 1981, the group had over 50 members and was able to host the Tri-State areas first Mustang and Ford car show. This introduced the club to other area Mustangers and Ford owners and brought in more new members.

Also in 1981, the club decided to affiliate with a national organization. They had two choices:  The Mustang Club of America (MCA), with emphasis on restoration or The Performance Ford Club of America (PFCA), which obviouslty was oriented toward performance. TSMC chose MCA in Decenber, 1981 because of their broader scope of activities and their greater resources.

In the early 90s, MCA elected to include Mustangs from all years in their car shows.TSMC followed suit. In October, 1982 the club incorporated as the Tri-State Mustang Club, Inc. 12 Trustees were named. They became the Charter Members.

Today our club has over 100 members and a wide range of activities.
